One of the oldest manufacturers of Cadillac luxury cars presented its first fully electric SUV, which will be created on a new GM platform.
The company’s president argues that the future crossover will combine luxury, innovation and high level of mobility. The automaker has not yet given the project name and does not disclose the technical characteristics of the engineering concept, but promised to reveal them closer to launch. The company reported only that the electric SUV will be created on a completely new flexible EV platform developed by General Motors, which will take into account the preferences of consumers and respond quickly to their changes.
It is expected that the new architecture will allow the company to develop various body variations. The most advanced components of this platform will be drivers and batteries, which are designed to maximize use. Electric vehicles will be able to have a front, rear or four-wheel drive, and the power of their power systems will be adjusted depending on the needs of the car and the client.
Until 2021, Cadillac plans to produce a new model to the market for about once every six months. In the Detroit Auto Show, the manufacturer also presented three options for the XT6 crossover, and also hinted that in the near future the legendary Escalade SUV could be updated.
Thanks to the new design, the Cadillac electric vehicle should be the main competitor of Model X Tesla.
